And Then There Was One: Mociun Dress

I thought we sold out of this dress, but, as it turns out, there is ONE left in a size Medium. My sister owns this dress and wore it during her recent visit to Portland! It has a super flattering fit and runs true to size. I'll post it back on the site this week! Who will be the lucky girl?

Spring Has Sprung!

The sun is out this weekend, and it is gorgeous and warm. Portland feels like an entirely new city when this happens.

The ease of Mociun dresses is pretty hard to resist. The babydoll shape isn't new to us, but given our consistent obsession with Caitlin's tie-top pieces, the Issaran dress is novel. And simple, sweet. In other words, it is perfect for spring.

Good News, Bad News

The good news first: This Mociun Ikat dress, as modeled by Lena Corwin in the newest issue of Domino (below), is more gorgeous and wearable in person.

Of course, this magazine spread begs the question--what things make you happy, lovelies?
Fine, I'll start with my short list, but this list won't include people or pets; otherwise, I'll get some scowls later this week.

1. A bowl of orange tomato soup from Elephants Deli on a cool autumn day makes me happy.

2. Walking through the park, while shuffling through yellow fallen leaves, makes me happy.

3. Vintage or vintage-inspired wallpaper makes me happy.

4. Rummaging through used bookstores makes me happy.

There are so many more little things, but we'll discuss that another time.

Mociun Prints are In

Mociun’s Fall collection, entitled, “ The Naming Ceremony,” is my favorite yet.

We have two very different Caitlin Mociun silhouettes to offer you this season. The first is the much coveted tie-front dress in the beautiful Ikat print. The material is substantial –no flimsy dress here— so one can imagine how great it would be for the forthcoming chilly months: flat moccasins or clog oxfords, opaque wool tights, a scarf and jacket—voila! A few smartypants customers purchased the dress on pre-order (yay for them, but not for us), so we only have one left in stock, a size small. I wonder who the lucky girl will be.




The second dress is the amulet cut in the “fake bead” print. Unlike its tie-front counterpart (which is more relaxed in fit and style), this dress is more dramatic. It is fitted in all the right places and has a plunging neckline, pleated shoulders and a high neck. If you’re wondering how you will squeeze yourself into this dress, do not worry –it has a zipper back. And despite its fitted cut, it remains flattering and forgiving. It should come as no surprise to you that I tried my newest Rachel Comey belt with it. I think it works. Sorry for the picture overkill below.








We also have a few pairs of the drill shorts in peacock blue.

Fox in Mociun

A few days ago, I received an email from Alyson Fox (designer of A Small Collection) with images of her S/S '09 collaboration with Caitlin Mociun. The collection is cleverly titled "Fox in Mociun."

Lovelies, thank you for the emails and questions about incoming Fall pieces. We have a few things brewing on our side:

**Caitlin Mociun emailed us today to inform us that our Fall shipment is en route. It should arrive no later than this Friday, so keep your fingers crossed. In addition to the coveted Ikat dress, we also have on our list of anticipated arrivals the amulet dress in a Mociun beads print.

Mociun Pre-Orders: Ikat Dress & Drill Shorts

You asked for it, so here it is. We are now taking pre-orders on Mociun Fall items, like this Ikat dress, Caitlin Mociun's newest rendition of her trademark tie-front dress or the adorable drill shorts above, which buttons up the front in an adjustable high waist style. Expected shipment date is October 2.

Anticipation: Mociun Fall 2008

Mociun's fall line, upon first glimpse, immediately conjured for me images of velvet sunsets and the stirring of the warm summer air, just at the delicate cusp of the seasons' change. That's just me.

Of the Navy Persuasion

As requested, here are more pictures of the Church & State blouse: Peter Pan collar, cascading scalloped ruffles--pretty darn adorable. I'll post these up on the shop.
As you can see below, the belt is removable, and this blouse is very versatile. This seems more prim and proper and, I think, works even for a more conservative office.

Here, I paired it with my current-favorite vintage necklace and (surprise, surprise) my Rachel Comey skinny belt.

Also, we have one more pair of the Mociun high-waisted shorts in navy, size small.

Mociun Summers

We pretty much adore everything and anything that Caitlin Mociun creates. Imagine our delight then, when, after much drooling--but reluctant waiting--over fall 2008 (SO great!), we received a little email from Ms. Mociun about her edited summer line. Summer line!

Doesn't looking at this picture (or, I suppose the picture below, as well) just make you happy, as if nothing but warm, sunshine-filled days could possibly follow? Well, duh.

We picked up this simple (but not so simple) tank in the fabulous doily print. (By the way, as with all of our posts, you can click on the picture to enlarge.) As usual, sizes are limited, and first come, first serve. Otherwise put, don't dawdle.

What a gorgeous day. We're out to enjoy the warmth of the sun over lunch with some friends, but I just could not help myself and had to get in a little blog word or two (and some pictures) before running out the door.

Mociun Paperbag Skirts: I realize we've had these up on pre-order for a few weeks now, and they've finally arrived. Adorned with cute wooden buttons (the printed skirt has two, while the navy skirt has three), these skirts are adorable and such an easy piece to throw on for those lazy, spring/summer days ... perhaps with a simple tank. Note that they are paperbag skirts with drawstrings, so they are meant to be a little loose, although it isn't anything the drawstring couldn't fix. Or, if you prefer, pair it with a great belt cinched at the waist. (See forthcoming post re: Rachel Comey belts ... err, when we get a chance.) Sizes: Small-Medium available.

Rachel Comey Schindler Sandal: Although certain to be a great basic for summer, the Schindler sandal in grey is anything but common or boring. This shoe runs about a size big. Don't be intimidated by the ruched ankle strap; it keeps everything in place.

Rachel Comey Wright Sandals: I love brilliant pops of color. This sandal also runs a size big.
